- Abstract : COVER ILLUSTRATION In our paper, we examined and developed the capacity to robustly personalise the spatial targeting of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for the treatment of depression based on brain connectivity. Optimisation of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) stimulation target is based on functional connectivity (FC) with the subgenual cingulate cortex (SGC). Our data indicated substantial interindividual variability in the network architecture of SGC FC across the spatial extent of the DLPFC, suggesting that personalisation is warranted. The SGC is depicted on the left and its functional connectivity across the spatial extent of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in different individuals is depicted in the centre. Also represented are (counter‐clockwise from the left) the anticorrelated relation of DLPFC and SGC FC, the focus of this work on reproducibility (distance), a TMS coil, the stability of these sites across time and the heritability of network architecture and optimal stimulation targets identified in this work.
