- Abstract : Dense sphere packing or network? An open octahedral network structure formed by soft self‐assembly is reported by C. Tschierske, F. Liu, and co‐workers in their Communication on page 20820 . π‐Conjugated rods form the networks conjoined by eight‐way junctions, representing nano‐segregated spheres involving hydrogen‐bonded polar end groups. This liquid organic framework is the first cubic liquid crystalline phase combining a network based on the I‐WP minimal surface and a body‐centered cubic sphere packing.
