- Highlights: The incorporation of halides LiI expanded the transport channel of lithium ions and improved the electrolyte conductivity to 3.3 × 10 −3 s cm −1 which is comparable to the current commercial lithium batteries. A protective layer was formed on the surface of the halide-doped electrolyte that effectively reduced the generation of H2 S toxic gasses when exposed to atmosphere. The improved SEI layer promoted the uniform deposition of lithium ions with results of the critical current density reaching 0.83 mA/cm 2, and the stable cycle of 1350 h at a current density of 0.25 mA cm −2 . Abstract: The design of solid electrolyte with resistance to dendrite growth and air stability is essential for the development of all-solid-state Li + cells. The suppression of hydrogen sulfide was well controlled after adding the halide, and a protective layer formed to prevent the PS4 3− units in the electrolyte from reacting with H2 O molecules. Moreover, the as-prepared low-temperature phase Li3 PS4 -LiI has good resistance to dendrite growth and excellent compatibility with Li metal. The Li/electrolyte/Li symmetric battery exhibits ultra-durable cycle stability for 1350 h at 0.25 mA cm −2 . The details of influence rules of iodide introduction on the network and ions transmission are analyzed and proposed to explore the available electrolytes for all-solid-state battery.
