- Abstract: The energy and time characteristics of Q -switched two-micron lasing at the 5 I7 → 5 I8 transition of Ho 3+ ions in ZrO2 – Y2 O3 – Ho2 O3 crystals are studied under resonance pumping to the 5 I7 level by a cw Tm : LiYF4 laser. The mechanisms of appearance of burns on the faces of the ZrO2 – Y2 O3 – Ho2 O3 active elements at high laser energy densities are proposed.
