Abstract

ABSTRACT: The world is facing a global pandemic of COVID-19, a humanitarian crisis that has brought the whole socio-economic structure to a dead end. It has challenged the entire health system. The pandemic has affected almost all industries, few industries have fallen whereas numerous remain unscathed and registered promising growth. The tourism industry is the worst affected among the others as it is an important source of employment and income for both developed and developing countries [UNWTO, 2020b ] . The COVID-19 has raised awareness among people about the importance of health and wellness but at the same time pandemic caused shutdown of spas and wellness centres leading to unemployment. The whole population is living in fear of death and illness, losing jobs, falling economy, and livelihood. In the phase of such challenging times, wellness and health become the most important than ever before. In this study, we aim to assess and discuss the impact of the COVID-19 on wellnessand spa industry. . The secondary research was adopted in which data was drawn from various databases using relevant keywords. There is sufficient evidence to confirm that the COVID-19 pandemic has deleterious as well as beneficial effects on the wellness and spa industry.
