Abstract

Abstract: The Glass, rayon based carbon, PAN based carbon and high silica fabric reinforcements were impregnated with standard resole type phenolic resin in a vertical impregnating plant. The heating zones of prepreg plant converts resin impregnated fabric into partially polymerized state is called B-stage. The required volatile content and chang's index are achieved by adjusting plant parameter based on online testing of prepreg, and it was noticed resin content varying depend on reinforcement used. The rayon carbon/phenolic prepregs had high wet resin content and glass/phenolic prepregs had low wet resin content
