- Abstract: The present work deals with enhancing the ductility of hot rolled skin pass (HRSP) SPFH 590 steel by annealing. Annealing is carried out at 500°C for 1 and 2 hrs in box furnace. Tensile tests were performed for HRSP and HRSP annealed samples according to standards. It is found that there is a significant enhancement of mechanical properties like yield strength, uniform elongation, total elongation, ductility and work hardening exponent 'n'. After annealing at 500°C for 1 hr the yield strength is increased from 505 to 551 MPa, ductility is enhanced from 11% to 18-20% and work hardening exponent 'n' increases from 0.11 to 0.17.
