Abstract

Abstract: Wood is a fabulous gift of the nature with a wide range of applications in the progress of human civilization. Unlike any other non-renewable material, wood can be sustainably produced, processed, and transformed into a wide range of products. The aim of present work is to improve the dynamic mechanical properties of teak wood composite by hybridization of shorea robusta wood flour. The hybrid composites were prepared using hand lay-up technique having total wood content of 33 wt.% with varying proportion of teak and shorea robusta wood flour. The dynamic mechanical properties of hybrid composites were determined in terms of storage modulus ( E′ ), glass transition temperature ( Tg ) and damping ( Tanδ ). The results indicated that dynamic mechanical properties were found to be improved due to hybridization. In addition, hybrid composite with equal percentage of wood flour gave better storage modulus than other all composites.
