Abstract

Abstract : Aims: By the end of 2021, Paediatric trainees in EoE Deanery will be able to access an 18 week QIClearn programme via study budge, just like London Deanery trainees, benefitting directly from learning and implementing the methodology, bringing positive change at work place. Methods: As a learner having completed a structured Quality Improvement programme (delivered by QIClearn in partnership with the London School of Paediatrics), I used the model for improvement as a guide to gain spread and adoption of the programme to another region (East of England School of Paediatrics). The outcome measure is the number of EoE paediatric trainees engaged in the programme. Change ideas included: Emails, virtual meetings and telephonic discussions. Ideas were tested through a series of Plan-Do-Study-Act Cycles. Measurement is ongoing. Results: The results of PDSA cycles are shown in attached table ( tables 1 and 2 ). In Autumn 2021 one trainee from the EoE undertook a Fellowship in London and was supported to join the London Programme. From Spring 2022, an Open programme is available to EoE and has the support of the Training Programme Director (TPD) allowing trainees to access funding. Whilst recruitment has just begun, some EoE trainees have already registered. Conclusion: A learner's interest may be simple yet may have a positive snowball effect. There is a bigger picture behind rolling out a programme successfully and can have complexities especially around budgeting, finding mentors, sustainability factors, etc that can act as barriers and are better understood by higher stakeholders involved.
