- Abstract: A Hydroxyapatite/chitosan/montmorillonite (HAP/CHT/MMT) thin film was prepared and characterized. This film was used to remove chromium VI (Cr VI) from aqueous solution. Various parameters were used to investigate the adsorption behavior, such as time of contact, solution pH, initial Cr VI concentration, temperature, and adsorbent dose. It took 240 min to reach equilibrium at a pH of 5.5 and 0.2 g/L of HAP/CHT/MMT thin film at room temperature. The adsorption of Cr VI was well fitted by the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Adsorption kinetics was studied using the pseudo-second-order model. Thermodynamic parameters (ΔG o, ΔHo and ΔS o ) showed that Cr VI adsorption was spontaneous and exothermic.
