Abstract

Abstract : A retrospective study of 39 pregnant women in Alberta, Canada, treated for infectious syphilis in late pregnancy found only 2 mild Jarisch-Herxheimer reactions. Abstract: Of 39 pregnant women at ≥20 weeks' gestation treated with benzathine penicillin G for infectious syphilis, we identified only 2 mild Jarisch-Herxheimer reactions. There were no immediate fetal sequelae. Data from our study do not support the recommendation for routine admission for the treatment of infectious syphilis in late pregnancy.
