- Summary: In this article, the use of paragraph 5.5.1 (7) is applied, only for stiffeners, and the use of the numerical results of linear stability analyses (LSA) obtained by the GBT (Generalized Beam Theory) methods is tested for the section, namely the distortional modes, relating them to the formulas currently present in EC3‐1‐3. For comparison and analysis of results, studies present in the bibliography were used that show experimental and numerical results, relevant and representative, of sections with stiffeners. In the calculation of effective sections, the Class4Section application, developed by the authors, is used to run several tests combining EC3‐1‐3 specifications and LSA results.
