Abstract

Abstract : Contaminated mixture models (CMMs) have wide applications in the real world. Testing homogeneity in CMMs is an important and fundamental problem. In this article, we develop an EM‐test for homogeneity in the general framework of the CMM with unbounded likelihood. The null limiting distribution of the test is shown to be a shifted mixture of chi‐square distributions. Simulation studies demonstrate that the EM‐test has excellent finite‐sample performance. Two real‐data examples illustrate the applications of the proposed method. Résumé : Les modèles de mélanges contaminés (MMC) trouvent des applications pratiques dans de nombreux domaines. De ce fait, leurs tests d'homogénéité constituent un problème important et fondamental. Les auteurs de cet article proposent un test EM construit dans un cadre général de MMC ayant une vraisemblance non bornée. Ils montrent que sa distribution asymptotique sous l'hypothèse nulle est un mélange de lois du Khi‐deux. La mise en œuvre pratique du test est illustrée à travers deux exemples de données réelles, en plus de simulations numériques qui démontrent ses excellentes performances sur des échantillons finis.
