- Abstract: High performance lead-free ferroelectric ceramics with better dielectric behaviors are highly demanded by the electronic industry. Here, room temperature ferroelectric Ba0.7 Sr0.3 TiO3 ceramic flakes are fabricated by spark-plasma-sintering method (SPS) with the phase transition temperature being confirmed as 36 °C. The as-fabricated flakes are completely densified and defects-free polycrystalline ceramics with excellent dielectric and ferroelectric performances in a broad frequency range. The dielectric constants are over 3000 in broad frequency with losses lower to 0.03, which are better than those of most reported barium strontium titanate based ceramics by SPS methods. Meanwhile, the dc breakdown strength is 240 kV/cm and the energy storage density is over 1 J/cm 3 in terms of higher dielectric constant and dielectric strength of the products. The achievement of the excellent performances is resulted by synergy contributions of SPS method, homogeneous source nanocrystals, and precise controlling to the stoichiometric of the nanocrystals. The works present an effective feasible method for fabricating densified and defects-free barium titanate based ceramics with achieving room temperature ferroelectricity.
