- Abstract : Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is characterised by recurrent pregnancy morbidity and venous and arterial thromobotic events. Considerable progress has been made in understanding the mechanisms of thrombosis and pregnancy loss which have led to improved clinical outcomes for patients. APS vasculopathy is characterised by vascular intimal hyperplasia which may lead to stenotic lesions in the renal arteries resulting in hypertension. APS nephropathy may lead to renal impairment. However, renal biopsy is associated with significantly increased risks of bleeding complications as a result of renal vessel intimal hyperplasia. This brief lecture will review recent developments in APS nephropathy and will address the risks of renal biopsy and strategies to minimise biopsy complications. Disclosure of Interest: None declared
