Abstract

Abstract : Urospatha caribaea, a new foliose emergent macrophyte species from Panama and Colombia is described and illustrated. This species inhabits wetlands, along rivers or in floodplain forests in Bocas del Toro (Panama) and Necoclí (Colombia) and is related to U. sagittifolia (Rudge) Schott, a widespread species from South America. This new taxon increases the number of species in Urospatha to thirteen, most of them present in South America.
