- Abstract: A core-shell structural nanoparticles preparative technique was applied to produce BaTiO3 @NiO ceramics with excellent energy storage performance. Shell layers of NiO were coated onto BaTiO3 nanoparticles by sol-precipitation method. The structures, dielectric and energy storage properties of the BaTiO3 @NiO ceramics were systematically investigated. Results show that, high-densification microstructures with fine-crystalline and uniform distribution are observed in all the ceramics, and excellent energy storage density of 2.72 J cm −3 with low remnant polarization is achieved at 230 kV cm -1 in BaTiO3 @1 %NiO ceramics, which also possesses fast discharge features ( τ0.9 <2 μs), superior thermal stability (20–80 °C) and prominent cyclic stability (up to 1 × 10 5 times). Moreover, the BaTiO3 @NiO ceramics exhibits an antiferroelectric-like feature due to the synergistic effect of NiO and BaTiO3 . The antiferroelectric-like dielectric material could be a prospective material for energy storage application.
