- Abstract: Environmental barrier coating (EBC) plays a crucial role in improving the property of ceramic matrix composites at harsh environment. In this work, an in situ observation method was employed to systematically study the resistance of EBC to calcium–magnesium–alumina–silicate (CMAS) phase at elevated temperatures, which were 1200℃, 1300℃, and 1500℃, respectively. The melting and spreading process of the CMAS phase on the surface of the EBC was obtained via this method. In addition, the erosion effect of CMAS phase on EBC at different temperatures was analyzed by combining the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrum (EDS), which provided a guidance for the modification of EBC.
