- Abstract : The Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) has maintained the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Biographical Index (ABI) for a number of years. The ABI is a personal name index to published material held in the AIATSIS print collection. The authors explore current indexing practices for the ABI, the challenges of database indexing, the Outreach programme via online tutorials (Talkin' names and Connecting to country), and new initiatives for the creation and discovery of ABI records.
