Abstract

Abstract : The Cover Feature highlights the unique structural features of mixed valent Cs23 [MnO2 ]4 [Mn3 O5 ]4 . Its discovery along the azide/nitrate route underpins the particular strength of this approach in exploring even subtleties of the rich landscapes of alkalioxometalates. The crystal structure comprises two different kinds of 1 D polyoxoanions, where the one resulting from catenation of cluster‐like blocs of six edge sharing tetrahedra is without perecedent. These specific structural properties give rise to a series of partly competing magnetic exchange couplings of pronouncedly varying strength.
