- Abstract: Landslides are very unpredictable and hazardous phenomenon in the hilly regions. The failure of slopes in hilly regions causes economic losses and fatalities. Aim of this study is to prepare a landslide susceptibility map of Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh (H.P.), India. The factors like slope, aspect, drainage characteristics, geological and lithological are considered for preparation of landslide susceptibility map. The weightage of causative factors are calculated using analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The weighted linear combination technique is used in GIS environment to calculate the landslide susceptibility index. The landslide susceptibility map is divided into four categories according to their susceptibility towards landslides. It is found that a significant area lies under high and very high susceptibility towards landslides. The results of the study can be used by the construction engineers, urban planners and environmental engineers.
