- Abstract:
- ABSTRACT: This article examines poetry as an entity in itself and explores a hypothesis stating that poetry is useful to humankind. In order to fulfil these two tasks, the author provides in the beginning some relevant information about the concept of poetry and a tentative definition of it, and later on, she presents an analysis of this expressive means following a theoretical scheme developed by her in the past. This scheme comprises four inherent qualities or inherent properties which are naturally attached to poetry and possess the necessary ingredients to render its application useful for human beings. The detailed analysis of the latter allows pinpointing the value and the positive elements which characterise the four inherent qualities/properties of poetry, as well as the dimensions of human activity which can benefit from their application. Finally the findings of this study are summarized.
