- Abstract:
- ABSTRACT: Although the number of juveniles placed in secure facilities has decreased dramatically over the past decade, there are still questions on whether this is uniform among race and gender. This study examines disproportionate minority confinement (DMC) at the disposition stage using two data sets, Juvenile Court Statistics and the Census of Juveniles in Residential Placement. This study finds that though DMC appears to be decreasing, important gender and offense type differences still exist.
