- Abstract: Inconel 825 superalloy has excellent hot strength and corrosion resistance due to which it has many industrial applications in nuclear, aerospace, automotive and defence industries. But, properties such as tendency to get work- hardened, poor thermal conductivity, and high chemical reactivity with tool material make it 'difficult-to-machine'. Machining of Inconel 825 through conventional dry environment is indeed challenging. In the present study, machining behaviour of Inconel 825 is investigated under distilled water based Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) using PVD-multi-layer (TiN/TiCN/TiN) coated cermet insert. Approximate tool-tip temperature, tangential cutting force, and depth of tool flank wear are studied with respect to varied cutting speed.
