- Highlights: The method of preparing microfiber-based Co 2+ :ZnS-film SAs is electron beam evaporation technology. The approached passively mode-locked fiber laser exhibits a high stability. The microfiber-based Co 2+ :ZnS-film SAs have a good application in the dispersion management. Abstract: We report on the characteristics of soliton pulses in the passively mode-locked all-fiber lasers containing the microfiber-based Co 2+ :ZnS-film saturable absorbers (SAs) under different average dispersion. The microfiber-based Co 2+ :ZnS-film SAs are fabricated by electron beam evaporation technology. The conventional soliton (CS) centered at 1565 nm with a 3-dB bandwidth of 5 nm is obtained by inserting the film into the laser cavity. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is over 57 dB, which confirms excellent output stability. Via appropriate dispersion management, dissipative soliton (DS) with a 3-dB bandwidth of 28 nm is also obtained. Our results verify that the microfiber-based Co 2+ :ZnS-film SA exhibits excellent optical characteristics in ultra-fast photonics devices.
