Abstract

ABSTRACT: Comprehensive multicomponent programs in schools include farm-to-school programs to address healthy eating. Little research has addressed parents' and teachers' perspectives on these programs as they are implemented. The implementation and evaluation of Good Food for Oxford Schools, a multicomponent farm-to-school program, included surveys of parent and teacher perspectives. Parents and teachers reported that the program increased students' willingness to try new foods and increased students' intake of fruits and vegetables. An unexpected outcome was noted, where parents reported that children discussed what they learned at home, and parents are increasing fruit and vegetable intake as a result.
