Abstract

ABSTRACT: The goal of this project was to evaluate a 12-week farmer's market nutrition education and monetary incentive intervention developed for adults and implemented at two farmers' markets in rural Mississippi. After participation in the 12-week program, 83% of participants had tried a new fruit or vegetable, and 85% tried a new farmers' market vendor during the program. This program demonstrates that a 12-week rural farmer's market nutrition education program can be implemented in Mississippi. Research that continues to explore the efficacy of rural farmers' markets to improve dietary, food security, and other outcomes is vital.
