- Abstract : Dinucleotides copy RNA in the absence of enzymes or ribozymes. Genetic copying, producing the complementary strand to a template, drives replication. Self‐replication, based solely on molecular recognition and chemical reactivity, is a mainstay of the "RNA world" hypothesis for the origin of life. Dimers, the very first products of oligomerization, are superior building blocks in dilute aqueous solution, as now shown by Clemens Richert and co‐workers in their Communication (e202203067 ; illustration of RNA duplexes based on PDB entry 1qc0).
