- Abstract: This work has reported a one-pot synthesis of Fe3 O4 embedded reduced graphene oxide (rGO) (mrGO) nanocomposite and its application to remove toxic lead ions (Pb(II)). Compositional and morphological analysis of mrGO was done by SEM, FTIR, BET, XRD, and Raman spectroscopy analysis. All these analyses confirmed the successful synthesis of mrGO and the uniform distribution of Fe3 O4 nanoparticles on rGO nanosheets. The performance of mrGO in eliminating toxic Pb(II) ions from aqueous solutions was found to be excellent. The adsorption of Pb(II) ion onto mrGO follows the Freundlich isotherm model and Pseudo second order kinetic model with an utmost adsorption capacity of 657.894 mg/g. The outcomes of this experiment and the material characteristics ensure its potential to be used as an effectual adsorbent not only for Pb(II) but also for various other noxious waste. This exposition makes mrGO nanocomposite a practical and ecological adsorbent with great potential in wastewater treatment.
