- Abstract: There are different methods of fault detection in various structural and machine elements. A method is said to be a good one depending on the time lapse in calculating the result and the applicability to make an online device. Most of the structural members under periodic loading conditions. Due to this cracks or damages may occur. The initiation of cracks may change the physical properties of a structure. The dynamic changes may be natural frequencies and mode shapes. This paper focuses on prediction of the damage location (crack depth and crack location) using a Fuzzy Logic System (FLS). One stastical method has been used to make FLS more adaptive for the online damage detection. This is done by using Regression Analysis (RA) to reduce residual errors during the data acquisition method. The results are compared with standalone FLS and flexible FLS.
