- Abstract: This study investigates the heat transfer characteristic of R-407c in a horizontal evaporator enhanced tube, made of copper material of refrigeration system, experimentally and numerically. The numerical study was conducted using the Ansys-19 to solve a two-phase flow turbulence model. We have used heat flux and saturation temperature in the range 10–80 kW/m 2 and 15–25 °C respectively and obtained vapour quality of range 0.05–0.6. Heat transfer coefficients obtained from the experimental investigation were compared with the established correlations and with the numerical results which give mean errors within 12%. The numerical model has also included the comparison study between copper, steel and aluminium test sections. The results also indicate that the vapour quality affects the local heat transfer coefficient significantly.
