- Highlights: Structural, optical studies were done on P3HT thin films. Resistance variation with respect to illumination was studied. P3HT device showed On/off ratio 150 times. Photo sensitive nature of ITO/P3HT/Al makes it useful for photo sensing applications. Effect of various colored lights on photosensitivity of P3HT was studied. Enhanced responsivity and Photoresponse was observed for green light when compared to other colored lights making it useful for color sensing applications. A periodic and stable response was obtained for P3HT devices for all the sensing cycles with good reproducibility and short time responses. Abstract: Photo sensing properties of Poly (3-hexylthiophene-2, 5-diyl) (P3HT) with respect to white light and different colored lights were studied. In photo sensing studies, a decrease in resistance with illumination was observed in P3HT, indicating their sensitivity to light making them to be utilized in photo sensors. In this work, color sensing studies were done by noting down the resistance variation when exposed to a particular-colored light. A stable response was observed for P3HT devices for all the sensing cycles. It was found that P3HT photo response was more for green light compared to other colors, making it useful in color sensors. Structural studies were done on P3HT films to find its fingerprint peak and interplanar distance.
