- Abstract: In this study, various concentrations (0%, 1%, 2%, and 4%) of nano-zinc oxide particles (ZnO) were introduced to conventional plain concrete, and the influence of such nanoparticles on the specimens' longevity during freeze and thaw circumstances was explored. The freeze–thaw resistivity and chloride (Cl2 ) diffusion resistivity of mortar were evaluated with the aid of the Cl2 diffusing co-efficient (CLDC) and comparative dynamic modulus of elasticity (CDM) of the mortar under the effect of nano-ZnO, respectively. The freeze–thaw resistance and Cl2 diffusion resistance of nanoparticle-containing concrete were evaluated in comparison to that of ordinary samples. According to the findings, adding 2.0 percent nano-ZnO particles to regular concrete may lower the CDC by up to 24.5%, and the comparative dynamic modulus of elasticity of the traditional concrete mixture was prolonged by 16.13%. Further increment in nano-ZnO particles coulf end-up with a negative impact on the durability of the ordinary mortar.
