- Abstract: Due to the large size, low frequency, and poor transmission of the space truss deployable antenna (STDA), it is not easy to perform experimental modal analysis (EMA) using hammers or exciters. In this paper, the operational methods ensure that both the low-frequency and high-frequency modes of the STDA are excited. A parameter estimation method called PolyMAX is employed to identify modal shapes, modal frequencies and modal damping of the STDA only using dynamic responses. Further, a gravity unloading system is used to simulate the microgravity environment of the STDA in space, and the dynamic responses in this state are collected and processed. Finally, we discuss the difference of STDA modal parameters under the gravity and microgravity conditions through the previous test results. The technology used in this study can be further applied to the similar STDA structures.
