- Abstract: We generalize the MIB (matched interface and boundary) method for solving the Helmholtz equation with a rotated 17-point 4th-order FD(finite difference) scheme, which is non-compact, and has to use the points outside of the computational region. An optimal combination of difference schemes are employed to discretize the Helmholtz equation both on the standard coordinate system and the 45° rotated one. The combination weights are obtained via minimizing the numerical dispersion. Numerical experiments show that the rotated 17-point FD scheme with the MIB method is 4th-order in accuracy, and is effective in supressing numerical dispersion.
