Abstract

Highlights: Almost 50% of total bacterial abundance on shells were photosynthetic cyanobacteria. Amplicon Sequence Variant (ASV) richness and diversity were highest in the intermediate bioregion. Communities of photosynthetic cyanobacteria were unique among almost all bioregions and substrata. A novel ASV most closely related to the known euendolith Mastigocoleus perforans KX388632 occurred in 75% of samples.
