Abstract

Abstract : The characterizations of probability distributions allow the investigator to choose a suitable model from a handful of distributions for a data set in hand. The present study deals with Rényi entropy being treated as a function of the ordered random variable named k -records instead of the unordered random variable to derive some new characterizations of probability distributions. The characterization results are established based on upper k -records as well as lower k -records and uses both upper and lower k -records simultaneously in certain situations.
