Abstract

Abstract : The recent drive towards high performance AR and VR headsets has generated a new demand for materials designed for the targeted requirements of this sector. Many of the most pressing challenges associated with this technology relate to improving the user experience through improved optical components in the combiner. This paper will present the challenges and status of new materials specifically designed for this application. Materials for both passive components, such as flat lenses and gratings as well as for active components will be discussed.
