- Abstract: Solar energy to hydrogen production is an effective way to solve the energy crisis. Here, we report a Ti3 CN@TiO2 /CdS photocatalyst with highly efficient photocatalytic performance. Ti3 CN@TiO2 materials with nanoflower morphology or lamellar morphology were obtained from Ti3 AlCN by controlling the etching time, and then loaded CdS nanoparticles to improve the photocatalytic efficiency. The physical and chemical properties of the catalyst were characterized by various characterization techniques. Ti3 CN@TiO2 /CdS photocatalyst shows an enhanced photocatalytic activity of 3393.4 μmol g −1 h −1, much higher than that of CdS and Ti3 CN@TiO2 . . Highlights: Nanoflower-like Ti3 CN@TiO2 /CdS was fabricated by in-situ conversion route. The morphology of Ti3 CN@TiO2 /CdS can be controlled by the etching time of Ti3 AlCN. Ti3 CN@TiO2 /CdS possesses higher optical property and charge separation efficiency. Ti3 CN@TiO2 /CdS exhibits excellent photocatalytic water splitting performance compared with CdS and Ti3 CN@TiO2 .
