- Abstract: Botanicals are recognized by many researchers as a relatively newer concept for developing composite materials in industries and are also widely accepted in therapeutics. The bio-composite industry is currently expanding at a rapid pace in order to meet growing customer recognition and new regulatory issues. Lignocellulosic bio-fiber obtained from various plant parts (leaf, bast, fruit, etc.) is important in biomaterials for many uses. The fiber is sustainable, non-abrasive to process, and can be combusted at the time of termination for resource recovery. Furthermore, the botanicals raised in this article serve a multifaceted part in the field of traditional medicine. Due to their non-toxicity, biodegradable and more importantly less expenses as compared to the chemicals many researchers shed light on this plant compounds in both industrial as well as medicinal importance. Thus the present review highlights the classification, mechanical and medicinal properties of different parts (bast, leaf and seed/fruit fibers) of plants.
