- Abstract: This paper robust coordinated and optimized method for low-frequency oscillations is proposed. The system consists of wind farm and combinations of stabilizer, High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC)-link and Flexible AC Transmission system (FACTS) devices. These are located at best possible point for maximum damping. Each controller is located separately based on corresponding parameter. The stabilizer is located based on optimum location index, HVDC-link w.r.t. line flows and FACTS devices from power flow sensitivity analysis. The controller parameters are optimized by Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The real part of eigenvalue is the objective function for PSO and is formulated based on small signal and transient analysis. The transient stability is analysed by time domain simulation for a three-phase fault. The small signal stability analysis based on eigenvalue using state space model is carried out. Exhaustive simulation results are demonstrated for each controller and combinations of two or more controllers. It reveals that 4 controllers (stabilizer, HVDC-link, 2-FACTS devices) together has best performance. The sensitivity analysis is conducted with controller gain as sensitivity parameters. This recognizes the modes that have detrimental and beneficial effects on the system. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed approach is confirmed based on IEEE-14 bus test system.
