- Abstract: Handling and repurposing Waste Ceramic Tiles have been a discussion for a long time, this paper examines the influence of waste ceramic tile (WCT) on the abrasion and fire resistance characteristics of self-compacting concrete (SCC) when used as a substitution of natural river sand (NRS). In this research, NRS was replaced with 0-–100% waste ceramic tile with an increment of 20%. Flowability, passing ability and viscosity fresh property tests were performed on the SCC. Compressive strength, fire resistance and resistance to abrasion tests were conducted to test the hardened state of SCC. The fresh properties reduced as the quantity of waste ceramic tile increased, however all properties were under acceptable limits of EFNARC standards. The outcomes of resistance to abrasion and compressive strength showed a meaningful increment in SCC mixtures incorporation up to 60% of WCT. Also, up to 60% WCT self-compacting concrete performs better in fire compared to others. This research suggests that ceramic tile waste produced in the industry could be used in SCC to enhance its properties.
