Abstract

Abstract: Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for four fish species ( Catathyridium garmani, Pseudauchenipterus affinis, Cathorops arenatus, and Anchoviella brevirostris ) captured at six sites on the Espírito Santo and Bahia continental shelf, Brazil. Fishes were sampled monthly for 13 consecutive months using a small‐meshed bottom trawl (measured 10.25 m in ground rope and 8.37 m in head rope, with 13‐ and 5‐mm 156 stretched mesh openings in the body and in the cod‐end). Measurements were taken for total length (TL − 0.1 cm precision) and total weight (TW − 0.01 g precision). All estimated LWRs were significant ( p < .05). New maximum total lengths (TL) were recorded for three species.
