- Abstract : Pulmonary MRI : The frontispiece illustrates that hyperpolarized diethyl ether vapor can be imaged on any clinical MRI scanner, and it can provide information on the structure and functions of lungs. In their Full Paper on page 1316 ff., O. G. Salnikov et al. present 1.3% nuclear spin polarization level for diethyl ether achieved by using heterogeneous hydrogenation with parahydrogen and the possibility of ∼10‐fold prolongation of the hyperpolarization lifetime. Since diethyl ether is a well‐established anesthetic, translation of the proposed method to the clinical use represents the plausible future of pulmonary MRI.
