- Abstract : In this study, a self-designed testing approach for interface bonding strength and related fixture are proposed. Five layers of 316L stainless steel coatings are fabricated by overlapping and overlaying laser scans on the substrate. The ultimate tensile strength of notched specimens at different positions is measured by a static tensile test. The fracture morphology of the T-shape specimens presented obvious dimples and cleavage steps at the fracture, indicating that the fracture mechanism is hybrid fracture. The effectiveness and repeatability of the method are proved by comparative experiments. It can be used as a parameter of mechanical properties to realize the engineering measurement of interface bonding strength.
