- Abstract : Engineered bacteria and yeasts have progressively emerged in the past decade as convenient cell factories for supplying plant and fungal natural products (NPs). A new study by Reimer et al . provides compelling evidence that the amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum could be also engineered in favor of the production of plant drug precursors.
