- Abstract: The dynamic responses of a translational bubble in a strong acoustic field are studied numerically. The primary Bjerknes force acting on a spherical bubble is calculated by considering the translation simultaneously. The results show that the dynamic of a translational bubble is related to the distance from the pressure antinode and the primary Bjerknes force. A gas bubble which is apart from the pressure antinode within 1/4 wave length of sound will move to the pressure antinode quickly, and a strong nonlinear oscillation of a gas bubble appears. The cavitation is more drastic in the above condition. A bubble which is near to the pressure node will oscillate linearly at the pressure node, and drastic cavitation does not happen. It is also found that the primary Bjerknes force acting on a spherical bubble is negative in a greater distance and the cavitation will be more drastic in a low frequency and strong acoustic field.
