- Highlights: A brief on the concepts of fragility analysis. Damage assessment of different types of structures. Methods and guidelines to derive fragility curves. Performance assessment of building structures located in hilly regions. Extensive review of various methodologies and guidelines to evaluate seismic hazards on structures. Abstract: Recent concerns have witnessed that excitation due to a seismic event has caused catastrophic destruction to mankind and its existing surroundings. Loss of livelihood and substantial impact on economic loss in various parts of the world became a primary concern. The occurrence of damage in structures is one of the main reasons to study their seismic behavior when subjected to seismic excitation. Fragility analysis (FA) of structures provides a better understanding of the response of the structural and non-structural systems during seismic events. When subjected to the varying intensities of ground shaking, the probability of exceeding a particular damage state is defined by the fragility curves. This paper is focused on the in-depth overview of the studies conducted in the domain of fragility analysis of structures by several researchers. The adopted analysis methods in past studies include non-linear static pushover analysis, dynamic time history analysis, incremental dynamic analysis, etc. The review study comprises of fragility analysis of structures categorized into different classes, precast structures, with or without the influenceHighlights: A brief on the concepts of fragility analysis.
