- Abstract : We appreciate the interest in our case. 1 The patient has both amyloid (PiB positive) and tau in her brain, which would be consistent with a biological definition of Alzheimer disease. Tau PET generally binds to 3R and 4R tau of Alzheimer and does not bind to 3R or 4R tauopathies, individually. However, we cannot exclude the possibility of a second pathologic process and agree that longitudinal follow-up, repeat biomarkers, and pathology will be important for this case.
