- Abstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate a green route scheme for synthesizing silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) by stabilizing and capping it with an extract of Smilax aspera roots. The biomolecules contained in the phytoconstituent exhibit a high level of antioxidant activity, resulting in the productive reduction of silver ions (Ag + ) in nuclei (Ag 0 ). Silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) were characterized using a UV–visible spectrophotometer, FT-IR, X-ray diffraction, Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), revealing that the incorporated particles were consistently spherical (12.36 nm). The antibacterial activity of Ag-NPs against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was examined. Furthermore, antifungal activity and mode of action against unicellular Candida albicans and multicellular Aspergillus niger were investigated by modifying cell capacities, and anti-inflammatory activity was investigated using an in vitro HRBC stabilisation method, percent Albumen denaturation, and percent Heat induced hemolysis estimation.
